Definitely scares the birds away – just need to put it on some sort of perch. Update 8-31-16After doing a little little research you need to put the bird on some sort of perch to actually scare away other birds. Once I drilled a few holes in the plastic bottom and zip tied it to the railing on my tiny porch we haven’t had a bird return. Definitely a big improvement.I bought this Owl to scare away the birds because they were crapping all over my tiny apartment porch. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me. Maybe it scares away other types of birds.

Pigeon sitting on owl’s head Put this out on my balcony, came back about 2 hours later, and there was a pigeon sitting on top of its head. The pigeons have stopped coming back, but I am not sure if it is because I keep moving the owl every day or because I poured bleach all over the balcony. Regardless, seeing the pigeon sitting on the owl’s head did not lead me to believe this product is effective.

Wood peckers have been attacking our stucco and have caused thousands in damage. The owl seems to be keeping them away for now.
